George Hislop Park featuring ‘The Dance’

Part of the revitalization of a series of linear parks just east of Yonge Street that occupy space over the subway line below, George Hislop Park pays tribute to the LGBTQ2S+ history of Toronto.

Here, the existing series of steel arches that link all three linear parks begin to morph and dance, paving patterns and colours gradually draw visitors into a an immersive experience and mirrored surfaces reflect our likeness back to ourselves within a backdrop of hot pink.

Lighting is integrated to heighten the experience at night - once the sun sets, the dance floor comes to life.

This project was photographed around the time of the park’s official opening in December 2024.
