Banana Factory Laneway Home

Tucked off a side street near Toronto’s Roncesvalles neighbourhood, this laneway home occupies the concrete block walls that once housed a storehouse for ripening bananas. A family of four live within an efficient floor plan that uses a setback from the laneway itself to create a courtyard enclosed by perforated screens for a semi-private outdoor space.

Similarly perforated screens help to delineate rooms within the home on the interior, providing a sense of separation and enclosure while maintaining visibility and openness.
