Work 177 Georgian Lane Reach

Nestled in a verdant seaside neighbourhood in the Hamptons, this project is a complex addition that is perched above (and reaches overtop) an existing home, while deploying materials and spatial tools to camouflage with the home and the lush surrounding landscape.

From the exterior, the addition feels as though it has always belonged there. Its edges help to soften its presence - a galvanized cap flashing subtly blends with the sky, and volumes that appear solid begin to decompose into planes and walls.

On the interior, a discreet staircase whisks you above the home into a private sanctuary amongst the trees.

This project was photographed over two days in late summer 2024, a time of year when such a serene retreat is welcomed as respite from the bustle of the Hamptons in peak season.
